Oracle Boss Buys Bruckheimer's Malibu Pad, Will Bev Hills Bail Out Its Schools?

New, 18 comments

MALIBU: Larry Ellison, the boss at Oracle and third wealthiest person in the nation, forked over an undetermined amount of cash for producer Jerry Bruckheimer's Malibu getaway, the Los Angeles Times reports. Ellison now owns 10 (!) residential properties in Malibu, including the two houses on either sides of Bruckheimer's former beachfront abode (pictured is one of Ellison's homes, complete with its own private transit system). With 3 bedrooms/3 bathrooms and only 70 feet of oceanfront land, Ellison's newest purchase sounds downright homey. No real estates agents were harmed, or used, in the selling of this residence. BEVERLY HILLS: The Beverly Hills Unified School District has all but declared war against the extension of the Purple Line subway, which requires a tunnel underneath its high school. BHUSD just launched their second lawsuit against the project, even though they're $3.5MM in the red. The Beverly Hills Patch reports that the city of BH has a $10 million surplus and will consider pushing some of those bucks to BHUSD at a meeting next month--though two councilmen, John Mirisch and Julian Gold, want some of that money set aside for the district's legal battle with Metro.
