HOLLYWOOD: While locals typically steer clear of the Hollywood & Highland Center, there's a new tourist trap worth checking out. Sweet!, a 30,000 square foot "candy amusement park" opened Tuesday, complete with live Oompa Loompas, a giant Crunch bar embedded into the floor, and urinals filled with edible candy. The new it spot to drop acid in LA.

BEVERLYGROVE: Speaking of sweets: Georgetown Cupcake, which became famous thanks to a TLC reality show, opened up its LA branch this week on Robertson. The interior is tasteful and on Saturday: free cupcakes!

LITTLE TOKYO: Sad news in the sweets world: Frances Hashimoto, who popularized mochi ice cream and was an influential Little Tokyo businesswoman, passed away earlier this month. Hashimoto was the force behind Mikawaya, the maker of delicious rice cake/ice cream treats you've probably turned to in times of need.

LOS ANGELES: The Eater Awards, which names the best restaurants, chefs, and bartenders in the Eater world, were announced this week. Big winners include hotspots in Downtown and WeHo. Click here!
