West Hollywood's about to make you pay for parking aaaaall night long. Well, not all, but most--this week, the transportation commission recommended that the city adopt much longer meter hours all along Santa Monica Boulevard and points surrounding, reports the LA Times: "Officials have said the change in policy would be a way to reduce congestion and increase street parking availability in an area that's traditionally been a nightlife hub." Here's the meter situation they're considering:
Santa Monica Boulevard between La Cienega and Doheny Drive ("as well as other north-south streets in that area"): meters until midnight
Santa Monica Boulevard between La Cienega and Fairfax (and other north-south streets): meters until 10 pm
Except for Melrose between La Cienega and Croft Avenue: meters until midnight
Santa Monica Boulevard between Fairfax and La Brea, and La Brea: meters until 8 pm
"Nearly all city meters" (excepting parts of Fairfax, La Brea and some side streets on the east side): 11 am to 8 pm on Sundays
The city council will consider the matter on December 3. If passed, the changes would go into effect sometime next year. Image via City of West Hollywood
