SCI-Arc's Shadowy Graduation Pavilion, Art of the Orange Line

ARTS DISTRICT: Apparently Wayne Enterprises designed this year's SCI-Arc graduation pavilion? Seriously, this thing is actually called "League of Shadows." It was designed by faculty members Marcelo Spina and Georgina Huljich of the firm Patterns--they competed against three other faculty member teams for the graduation-pavilion-designing rights. The pavilion, which seats 1,200, will be built in the SCI-Arc parking lot for graduation events in spring 2013. Meanwhile, entries by all four of the competing architects will be on display in the SCI-Arc Library Gallery from October 19 to December 2. [Curbed Inbox]

VALLEY GLEN: Metro is showing off all its Orange Line artwork in Translations: Artists of the Metro Orange Line, opening Thursday at the Valley College Art Gallery. The exhibition will include work by the 20 Orange Line artists "that reflect the artists' studio practice in relation to their Metro commissions." More info here. [Curbed Inbox]
