Gold Line ConstructionWatch, ObamaLAvia Arrives Sunday

New, 11 comments

ARCADIA: The Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority, working to extend the train line from Pasadena to Azusa in a few years, has another update on the big basket bridge/iconic freeway structure they're building over the 210. There's some interesting info on the bridge's decorative baskets (skip to 4:25) and details on closures as they wrap up work on the structure (5:45). [Curbed Inbox]

LOS ANGELES: Carmageddon scared many folks off the roads last weekend and maybe ObamaLAvia will have the same effect: the president is coming into town on Sunday for a DTLA fundraising concert, leading to many road closures throughout the city (some details here at Patch). That same day, the bike and pedestrian party known as CicLAvia is kicking off for the fifth time, with roads closed until about 3:30 pm throughout DTLA, MacArthur Park, Boyle Heights, and Exposition Park. Expect a busy CicLAvia as this is the first event that the Expo Line light rail is available to whisk attendees from the Westside, and downtown's Grand Park fully opens to the public the day before the event.
