SILVER LAKE: The historic former home of El Barcito--site of gay protests in 1967 when it was the Black Cat bar--is being transformed into The Black Cat restaurant/bar as an homage to its history. We're a few months away from an opening and the best news may be that a new patio is being built out on the bar's parking lot.
LITTLE TOKYO: The Spice Table restaurant is a beloved fixture in LT, so it was sad news when Metro reported their new underground train line would force its closure. A recent flood led to a temporary closure, and now owner Bryant Ng says he will relocate the restaurant sometime in the next six to 12 months. Until then, dinner will be served, but no more lunch service.
MARINA DEL REY: LA is all about Peruvian cuisine lately. Ricardo Zarate's Mo-Chica has lit Seventh Street on fire and the chef is now expanding to Marina del Rey with a seafood/ceviche-centered restaurant called Paiche at Lincoln and Maxella. Zarate is looking to bring some crazy stuff to the table like fish heads and piranhas.
VENICE: Eater has pics of Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, the replacement for Lilly's, which recently departed after 13 years on Abbot Kinney. Lots of talented people behind this one and a nice design.
