(Small) Big boxification is now on the march in Downtown LA with the opening this morning of the CityTarget at the remodeled FIGat7th shopping center. Our retail-obsessed pals at Racked LA attended the press preview last night (fun fact: Mayor Villaraigosa is totally one of those people who says "Tar-jay"). They say the store has the biggest Downtown retail lease signed in 20 years (104,000 square feet), but that it's still only about half the size of a regular Target. Perhaps most excitingly for grocery-store-starved DTLA, the store has groceries, including booze, as well as clothing, electronics, a Starbucks, and a section of LA-branded stuff (exclusive to this store for now). Head over to Racked for way more photos and info.
