BRENTWOOD: It was only a month and a half ago that the bw, the shrunken Wilshire/Barrington mixed-use project, broke ground and, damn, it's moving fast. Locals should be wary of falling in the giant pit and avoiding the earthmovers and bulldozers rumbling around the busy intersection. The planned summer 2013 opening looks quite feasible. WEST LA: Just down the street, at Santa Monica Blvd. and Barrington, is the maligned Vons grocery store that smells faintly of death. For years, Vons' parent company Safeway said a new pedestrian-friendly Pavilions would take its place in early 2012. There's a delay, according to the neighborhood council--now Vons won't meet its maker until at least Jan. 2013. [Curbed Staff]
LOS ANGELES: Yesterday, CicLAvia released its route for the April 15 bike party, its fourth. The event, where motorized vehicles are banned to make way for cyclists, follows the same path as the October ride from East Hollywood to Boyle Heights, which included extensions to El Pueblo and South LA. CicLAvia hopes to stretch the Oct. 2012 event to Exposition Park, Mariachi Plaza, and Chinatown. [Curbed Inbox]
