Glendale has a grass problem. It temporarily stopped enforcing its ban while it worked on new rules, but then took a hard line against the stuff last August. Oh wait, not grass. Fake grass. The city is sending out notices of violation to residents who still have fake turf in their yards despite it being officially outlawed. According to the Glendale News-Press, the city outlawed fake grass because "opponents say it could cause lead poisoning and other environmental hazards, such as a 'heat-island' effect that occurs when unnatural surfaces get hot."
