UCLA to Sell Japanese Garden, Million Dollar Listing Intel

BEL AIR: An emailer writes: "i heard UCLA announced at some meeting last week it is selling off the [Hannah Carter Japanese Garden]. Have you heard anything?" A little digging shows that the university intends to put the garden and an adjacent house up for sale this month. According to a press release from last fall, "Located a mile from the campus, in Bel-Air, the garden and home on two acres were donated to the University of California in 1965 by Edward W. Carter, once chair of the UC Board of Regents, and his wife, Hannah Carter. Campus officials estimate the sale of the property would generate adequate revenues to establish the approximately $4.2 million in endowments and professorships identified by the Carter estate to benefit UCLA's academic mission." The garden was built by landscape architects from Kyoto, Japan, and includes a gate, garden house, shrine, and bridges that were built in Japan. The release says that UCLA will keep some of the most significant objects. [Curbed Inbox/UCLA]

PASADENA: Remember Heather from Million Dollar Listing? She was Madison's assistant who hooked up with Josh Altman and then jumped ship to work for Coldwell? Well, if you've read this far, you probably give a damn that she really seems to be spreading her wings (and it sounds like she might even be MDL's first female broker). She writes: "I am a Realtor on Bravo's 'Million Dollar Listing.' We are currently filming season 5 (premiering very soon - sometime in March we are told)?the show has been following my current listing, Terra Bella, a brand new condominium building with 28 units ranging from $900,000 to $3,000,000." She and Josh A. are going to be hosting a "hi-end event" on the rooftop to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Right now they're just looking for sponsors, but we'll let you know more as we hear it.
