EXPOSITION PARK: SCI-Arc and Caltech's Solar Decathlon entry, a little spacesuit-wearing net zero energy house called CHIP, will be going on display at the California Science Center next week (there'll be a big ribbon cutting on Tuesday). A team from the two schools took CHIP to the Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon last fall and won first place in the energy balance contest, according to a press release. The house will be open to the public for free through May 31, with tours every day of the week. More on CHIP here. [Curbed Inbox]
WEST HOLLYWOOD: As part of West Hollywood's contribution to Pacific Standard Time, the mega mid-century SoCal art survey, the Artists' Tower of Protest, aka the Peace Tower, will be recreated at Sunset and Hilldale. The tower, designed by sculptor Mark di Suvero and including hundreds of panels from other artists, was first built in 1966 on a lot at Sunset and La Cienega as a protest against the Vietnam War. The new version opens on January 19. [Curbed Inbox]
