Arts District Condos Formerly Known as Barn Lofts Hit the Market

New, 44 comments

The Barn Lofts have arrived in the Arts District and they've dropped their country-style name for something a little more metropolitan (and a lot more literal): welcome, finally, 940 East 2nd Street. After years of construction and bank shuffling and ownership changes, the former beet warehouse finally started selling last month. Deasy/penner has the listing on the 38 units, which are all three levels with two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. Prices for phase one (11 units) currently range from $505,000 to $585,000 with HOAs of $333.62 and $338.67. A rep for deasy/penner tells us that five units are already in escrow--the firm expects to close on those units and have the rest of the first 11 sold by the end of September. Move-ins should start in early October.

940 East 2nd was originally built in 1906 to store sugar beets and got a John B. Parkinson-designed renovation in the 1920s. The latest conversion was designed by Rockefeller Partners Architects.
