DOWNTOWN: Last month there were reports that, after 15 years of teasing, work was ramping up on the Chetrit Group's resuscitation of the Clark Hotel at Hill and Fourth, with permits and pool work underway. Now a reader spots this: "Just [saw] a shipping container being unloaded in front of hotel clark, full of mattress[es]. Could be an indication of opening within our lifetimes." [Curbed Inbox]
SILVER LAKE: So, Silver Lake won't be getting a Whole Paycheck Foods at the old Circuit City site on Sunset Blvd. But could it be something--anything--other than another eyesore? We posed that question to the neighborhood's City Councilman Eric Garcetti on Facebook and he told us this (also on Facebook--that's how politicians communicate now, duh): "I have been pushing CIM, the owners, to look at something here--mixed use, shops, grocery, etc. I know that Children's Hospital is quite interested, but I would like to see something that continues to activate the streetscape. Would be happy to get community members in touch with the owners as well but we'll keep pushing in the meantime." [Curbed Staff]
