Gasp! Pearl-clutch! Irvine's latest housing development won't be full of little boxes made of ticky-tacky. The 5,000 or so houses that developer FivePoint is building near the OC Great Park will be a mix of "Craftsman, Folk Victorian, Traditional Monterey, American Classic and Cottage." Plans even say that "'Uninterrupted blank wall surfaces should be avoided along all building facades'...and design should discourage features that 'hinder pedestrian activity, such as big box retail.'"
