Silver Lake's Mystery Big Dig: 3 Apartments and a Cafe Coming

New, 9 comments

Anyone heading down Sunset just west of Silver Lake Boulevard can't possibly have missed the sight of a massive dig in one of the hillside parcels between Local restaurant and the shuttered Body Bar spa (Eastsider LA posted a few pictures of the dig site earlier this month). Owner Clint Arthur, of Metro-Luxe Development, tells Curbed that the building going up at 3025 W. Sunset Blvd. will have three rental units and a café. He also boldly predicted that the development would be "the nicest luxury loft rentals in Silver Lake."

Architect Jon Walters designed the building and Arthur tells us that the rendering on the front page of the Metro-Luxe website (seen above) provides a rough idea of what it will look like (R&D Architects had done some designs back in 2006, but they are no longer on the project).

According to minutes from a June 2010 Silver Lake Neighborhood Council Urban Design & Preservation Committee meeting, Arthur also plans to build a duplex on the same lot, accessible from the Westerly Terrace side.? The first phase, the three apartments, is entirely financed with private money--Arthur is hoping that revenues from the first phase will finance the second phase.

Metro-Luxe is also behind this Mt. Washington three-bedroom house, called the "Villa Romatica."
