SANTA MONICA: The under-construction Shore Hotel on Ocean near Broadway will be taking in tourists next month, reports Eater. And why are they noting that? Because the hotel's restaurant has been finalized and will open in January--Blue Plate Taco will "offer indoor/outdoor seating for 70, and serve lunch and dinner daily. Think tacos, salads, grilled seafood, meats, and homemade tortillas, plus a full bar."
SANTA MONICA: It'll be a while longer--until fall 2012--for a nearby restaurant at B'Way and Ocean to open. Seasons 52, a Florida-based healthy concept, will occupy the giant space formerly occupied by I Cugini (10,019 square feet with room to seat 339 diners). The most interesting thing is that all the dishes will be under 475 calories.
EAGLE ROCK: Neighborhood favorite Fatty's, a vegan place with booze options on Colorado, shut down eight months ago. "Pop up restaurateur" Charlie Puffer stepped in and filled up the space temporarily with a Fatty's-like joint, but now the original Fatty's opens back up today with fresh beer and wine options.
THE WORLD: Umami founder Adam Fleischman is expanding on his burger empire with a fast food version called Umami Ko, or U-ko. Santa Monica-based Kanner Architects has revealed the designs for the U-ko concept, which features eco-friendly materials and ordering via touch screen. An Umami flagship is opening at the former Wonderland Bakery at the Grove, though it'll likely be fancier than a U-ko.
