The Architect's Newspaper blog has photos of SCI-Arc's graduation pavilion, which had its big moment at yesterday's ceremony. The 60 by 110 foot canopy was designed by professors Duane Oyler and Jenny Wu of Oyler Wu Collaborative and made up of "a billowing canopy consisting of a steel truss armature wrapped in a a changing grid of knitted rope, interwoven with a slightly translucent nylon mesh material." It was "angled just right to provide solar protection specifically at graduation time: 5 p.m." [A/N Blog, image via]
