The Germans Invade Venice and Fairfax, Farmers Market Plywood, Changes at Wilshire/La Brea

New, 3 comments

VENICE: Arts District favorite Wurstkuche is moving west with an outpost on Lincoln Blvd. Exterior signage and hiring are underway for the exotic 'wurst purveyor, Eater reports, so a September opening is certainly possible.

FAIRFAX: The German craze continues with Currywurst, which opened Monday at First and Fairfax. While booze is not yet served, everything on the menu is under $6.50. Sign us up!

THIRD AND FAIRFAX: Nancy Silverton and former Spago chef Amy Pressman are hard at work creating Short Order, a burger restaurant featuring seasonal food and a nice cocktail list. Next door will be Short Cake, a like-minded (seasonal ingredients) bakery. Look for a late-September soft opening.

MIRACLE MILE: Amid many switcheroos, a neighborhood restaurant called Rascal has opened up on a stretch of La Brea, just south of Wilshire. This area could use another nice place to eat (or any good news, considering the depressing empty plot that encompasses the southeast corner of Wil/LaB). Expect sandwiches, small bites, wine, and beer--open now from 5-11 p.m. Image via jreedmiller
