Farmers Almanac: Lawsuit Protection?

New, 31 comments

The LA City Council will start debating the proposed Downtown NFL stadium in just a few minutes, but meanwhile, up in Sacramento, state legislators are considering shielding stadium developer AEG from lawsuits related to the project's environmental impact. State Senator Kevin De Leon of Los Angeles chairs the State Senate Select Committee on Sports and Entertainment and "doesn't have anything specific in mind" yet, but wants to keep the project from being delayed by lawsuits. The legislature passed a bill protecting the now-pretty-much-forgotten NFL stadium project in Industry from environmental impact lawsuits, but even lawmakers who voted for that are skeptical about a repeat for the DTLA project.
