Does SF's Proposed NFL Stadium Look a Little Like LA's Target?

While Los Angeles debates and agonizes over a plan to build a football stadium and bring an NFL team to Downtown, up in the frigid north the Bay Area is debating and agonizing over a plan to build a new stadium for one of its two NFL teams (an embarrassment of riches!). The 49ers have proposed a new stadium for Santa Clara, and last week team officials unveiled a cute little model, reports SFGate. There are also renderings of the plan, designed by HNTB Architecture, which submitted very different designs in an attempt to win the commission for the DTLA stadium (that job eventually went to Gensler). A reader thinks those renderings look familiar: "Is it me or doesn't that look just like the new Target being built in downtown Los Angeles, at least entrance wise?" (Guess who designed that FIGat7th Target complex--Gensler!) He adds "Makes me like the new Farmers Field so much more. As a Bay Area native this sort of makes my heart sink a bit." Sorry, SF, but on the bright side, you actually have football teams.
