Signs of life are coming from the Concerto site--formerly owned by Sonny Astani--at Ninth and Figueroa in South Park. The United States Bankruptcy Court handed the property over to Corus Construction Venture in February of this year, and at the time it looked like the new owners of Concerto would send the tower to market as for-sale condos. Checking in with the CCV website (CCV also goes by the name ST Residential), we find that the building has been given a new name: (Drum roll please) LA high-rise fans, meet Apex, the building formerly known as Concerto. The ST website lists Apex as a "for lease" property, but ST rep Peter Marino tells us that there's been no final decision on the building's rental vs. condo status. He says ST should begin marketing Apex in the fall after they've finalized that issue and made decisions about additional enhancements--and the building is still vacant (it was on sale for a while under Astani). Meanwhile, there's no news to report about the planned tower that would have been the third component to the development, the current site of an empty lot.
