WeHo's Jons-Replacing Mixed-Use Project Set to Start Next Month

New, 29 comments

As mentioned on Monday, the West Hollywood Jons grocery store at Fountain and La Brea closes its doors for good on Saturday. And indeed, work on the mixed-use apartment project from the Monarch Group looks to be imminent--Jeff Seymour, the project's representative, tells Curbed that work will begin in September. Meanwhile, the Carls Jr.-destroyer/sister project at Santa Monica Blvd. and La Brea is a little behind--there were some tract change issues--but Seymour believes work should start by the end of the year (get your Super Star with cheese while you can). Expect at least a year 30 months of construction considering the size of the projects, which will look just like the renderings (pictured: the Jons project), according to Seymour. Monarch is not ready to talk about any specific retail tenants, like maybe a replacement grocery store, but Seymour mentioned Jons was considering a neighborhood shuttle to take devotees to their store in East Hollywood. Of course there's also a Ralphs across the street and the lonely Trader Joe's a half mile away.
