The city just dropped another $1.8 million in the bank after they settled with a New York-based firm that placed a dozen supergraphics and 500+ poster-sized signs around LA without getting permits, and then ignored orders to take them down, the Daily News reports. City Attorney Carmen Trutanich has been aggressively going after billboard scofflaws and insists the ads need to be regulated, not just for aesthetic reasons, but because they can fall and injure people. "The city has collected more than $6.3 million in judgments from outdoor companies that put up supergraphics or unpermitted signs since June 2009," says the DN. [Daily News]
