Pay to Play Delayed?

New, 5 comments

The California Planning & Development Report has word that the California Supreme Court will hear the case California Redevelopment Assn. v. Matosantos, which challenges ABx1-26 and ABx1-27--state laws requiring local redevelopment agencies pay to continue operating. The court also issued a stay on the dissolution of RDAs and the remittance payments until the court makes a ruling. Bloomberg reports that the case must be decided before Jan. 15, 2012, when the payments are scheduled to flow from the RDAs to the state. Los Angeles just voted yesterday to keep its community redevelopment agency going by paying $97 million. [CP&DR/Bloomberg]
