One step forward, one step back: We reported this week that the Gold Line Foothill Extension basket bridge had started construction and that progress had been made on a settlement for a contested parcel of land needed for the light-rail's maintenance yard. But George Brokate, who owns part of the land for the facility, has already brought two lawsuits against the Gold Line Construction Authority to stop the land purchase (and stall the light-rail)--and he's just filed another, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Now he's suing members of the Gold Line Construction Authority, saying they have a conflict of interest since many of them are elected leaders in the San Gabriel Valley (don't ask us, we didn't take the Bar). So far every settlement offered to Brokate has been rejected--thanks, George! [San Gabriel Valley Tribune]
