The Big Map Blog just posted a 105 year old transit map featuring numerous rail lines through the metropolis, including those of the Red and Yellow Cars. As LA Taco points out, the Red Cars traveled far and wide across the County, while the Yellow Cars served as an inter-urban streetcar system, using 20 lines to shuttle people around the growing city. On BMB, you can zoom in and move around on the map--you'll see that some of our current lines run parallel or mostly-parallel to the old train lines of yore.
