Lobster Ice Cream in Vegas, Getting Germanic On La Brea, Beverly Drive Italian, Echo Park's New Hotspot*

LAS VEGAS: A restaurant called Lobster, ME (as in Maine) is set to open at the Planet Hollywood casino in a few weeks. While lobster grilled cheese sounds amazing, the lobster ice cream not-so-much. This indulgent fast-casual place has LA in its sights, though no neighborhood news yet.

HANCOCK PARK: Speaking of weird desserts... Wirsthaus, an innovative new German joint, has opened near Beverly and La Brea; aside from the schnitzels and 'wursts, there's a spaghetti-like sweet treat called "Spaghettieis." There's also outdoor seating where dogs are welcomed and even specific food for the mutts.

BEVERLY HILLS: We're always looking for good Italian options in this city. The new Pici Enoteca opens on Monday--with items like spiced grilled eggplant with paprika oil and artichoke fritters filled with boursin.

ECHO PARK: Mohawk Bend has opened in an old theater on Sunset.* Scratch that--looks like maybe Monday now. Originally criticized by many for its signage, locals may be won over by its tasteful design, says Eater. The menu sounds typical but tasty, with many vegan options prepared in a different area than the meat dishes.
