Googie scholar and Los Angeles magazine associate editor Chris Nichols reports that the new Norms restaurant in Claremont is going to beat the neon pants off of all the other Norms sign-wise. Its version will be "99 feet tall, weighs over 30 tons and cost more than a two-bedroom house in Pomona." He writes that "Every time they hang a new letter, I get excited calls from friends driving through the Inland Empire." The restaurant will also be big--with more than 200 seats--and have "at least a mild infusion of the googie style of the classic stores." Van Nuys sign via jeff_soffer [LA Mag]
