Folks had a lot to say about the New York Times story this week that documented LA's rash of tagging. Some commenters, along with a detective in the graffiti task force, said scofflaws are encouraged by the recent glamorization of graffiti, e.g. Banksy and two shows in LA on street art. Well, now there're three shows: the Pasadena Star-News has a report on "Street Cred" at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. "I think there are definitely cases where graffiti would be considered vandalism, but I and my co-curator have been careful to show examples of things that would not be considered vandalism, like permitted murals as well as art made for galleries," co-curator Shirlae Cheng-Lifshin told the newspaper.
