County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky's website crunches the numbers on the 405 Freeway shutdown: Violent crime and traffic collisions were down just slightly, as was the peak amount of ozone in the air. Metro ridership is estimated to have been up 15-20%, pro soccer attendance was down, Natural History Museum attendance was up, and the Google search term "carmageddon" outranked "Harry Potter reviews" on the day before the closure. 8 people were arrested for trying to get on the freeway. More stats over at Zev's. [Zev Yaroslavsky]
