The LAPD is one org that manages to keep building in the Long Downtimes--today the LA City Council approved construction of a new $29 million police station for Atwater. Police in the Northeast Division have been working out of a former photo film processing lab since the eighties, according to the Daily Breeze. The new 45,000 square foot building will be funded with revenue from a 2002 station-replacement ballot measure, but there's no money for new parking at the site yet. [DB]
