California Adventure opens up its new entrance today--it's a streamline-style gate that's "themed after" the Fairfax area's old Pan-Pacific Auditorium. Plummer, Wurdeman & Becket designed the PPA, and it was built in 1935 as a temporary space, but ended up hosting events (including Elvis's first West Coast concert) until 1972. It burned down in 1989. The Pan Pacific Park Recreation Center is also somewhat of "themed after" the old auditorium. [OC Register, image via/Big Orange Landmarks]
