An Irving Gill in the Hollywood Dell Asking $3,400 a Month

New, 5 comments

Today whilst trawling Craigslist's murky waters, our eye was caught by this notice offering up for lease an early-modern home in the Hollywood Dell originally designed by Irving Gill. The house on Odin Street is mentioned in Marvin Rand's book Irving J. Gill: Architect, 1870-1936. Rand notes parenthetically that the residence, known as the Elizabeth Reed House, has been altered, and the Craigslist photos certainly bear that out. According to the ad, the 1,400-square-foot home features two bedrooms, two full baths, an office, a formal dining room, a fireplace, "new windows, skylights, a gourmet kitchen with Viking commercial grade range and hood, French doors, and a large enclosed courtyard in front and back of house." Monthly rent for the property, which comes with two dedicated parking spots, is $3,400.
