Fans of the Westwood FlyAway bus service to LAX will still have a ride to the airport for a little longer, as UCLA and airport officials have worked out a compromise to save it for at least half a year, reports the Daily Breeze. The shuttle looked near death early this year when it was discovered that the nonstop service was running a $1 million annual deficit. UCLA agreed to set aside 25 parking spaces for FlyAway riders in a nearby garage and to pay for additional service during semester breaks--one-way fares will also jump from $5 to $10. The deficit will be greatly reduced, but, "If we cannot increase ridership and make it viable six months from now, we will have to shut it down," Airport Commissioner and UCLA professor Fernando Torres-Gil told the Breeze.
