Plaza Watch Downtown

The Architect's Newspaper visits Downtown's Citigroup Center plaza and reports that there's now plenty of seating and lots of heat island mitigation. AC Martin redid the space they first designed in 1982 with diagonal paths of stone pavers, Palos Verde trees, Cor-ten steel planter boxes, a Cor-ten water feature, orange umbrellas, 40 tables, 160 chairs, and wood and travertine benches. Sounds like it'll go good with a bacon and peanut butter from the building's Mendocino Farms. [A/N, image via]
