Angels Flight Has Some 'Splainin' to Do

New, 14 comments

The on-again off-again, but mostly off-again funicular Angels Flight got a little extra scrutiny a week or so ago by city and state officials, who are wondering out loud just what is going on with the little train that could. Following premature wheel deterioration--which led to Angels Flight being shut down on June 9--councilwoman Jan Perry asked the overseeing state agency, the California Public Utilities Commission, for a report on the safety and maintenance issues that have dogged the train since its reopening last year. The Angels Flight people were reportedly rather "surprised" at the extent of the wear and tear after just a year in operation. Bets on when the wheels get turning again? [DN, previous coverage]
