The Autry National Center will be allowed to go ahead with its planned expansion, per a vote yesterday by the City Council, which had previously seized control of the matter from the Recreation and Parks Commission. The Friends of the Southwest Museum are worried that the expansion is a threat to the Southwest Museum of the American Indian in Mt. Washington--the Autry acquired the museum and shut it down years ago, and now, aside from displaying some of its collection, has no immediate plans for it. [LAT, previously]
