The Griffith Park-adjacent Forest Lawn Memorial Park says its running out of burial space and it's submitted plans to develop 120 acres of its grounds and add 108,000 new grave sites and 91,500 new spaces for above-ground interment. However, the plan would mean the removal of 835 oak, sycamore, and walnut trees, and environmental groups are worried about the effects on local wildlife (which include toads, bats, and foxes). The LA City Council is set to decide on the plan later this year. Image via Forest Lawn [Burbank Leader]
