TMZ, the best real estate fan fiction author going, reports this morning that British Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone settled for second choice when she decided to buy Candy Spelling's The Manor estate in Holmby Hills. They say young Ms. Ecclestone actually wanted to buy that other Holmby Hills white elephant: Suzanne Saperstein's Fleur de Lys, which has been on the market since 2007. It's much smaller, at about 35,000 square feet, but also asking a much more modest $125 million. TMZ isn't sure why the deal fell through. [TMZ]
