Designer Benches Courtesy of Beirut, Could Fans Own the Dodgers?

New, 8 comments

CIVIC CENTER: Last week the Los Angeles Beirut Sister Cities dedicated three new benches Downtown--one each for Councilmembers Eric Garcetti, Dennis Zine, and Tom LaBonge (for their work with the organization). The concrete and oak benches were designed by Trip Haenisch and will sit permanently under the Sister Cities signpost at First and Main. [Curbed Inbox]

ELYSIAN PARK: Tomorrow morning the LA City Council will vote on whether it'll support a fan-owned Dodgers. Councilmember Janice Hahn has proposed a resolution that asks Congress to remove the Major League Baseball restriction on new public offerings, which would open the way for a model in which fans buy stakes in the team (the Green Bay Packers operate on a similar model). And at least the fans probably won't get mired in a messy, million-way divorce. [Curbed Inbox]
