Crooked Building Inspector Pleads Guilty

New, 6 comments

News broke last month that two Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety inspectors were arrested for approving South LA housing developments, which in some instances they never visited, for some juicy bribes. The Los Angeles Times reports today that the second inspector, Hugo Joel Gonzalez, will plead guilty to charges of accepting $9,000 in bribes. In a recorded conversation with an FBI informant, Gonzalez said he wanted to kill a female employee of a developer. The Dept. of Building and Safety has placed two other employees on leave and authorities have served the department with subpoenas requesting information on 11 current and former employees. [LA Times]
