New, 5 comments

WEST HOLLYWOOD: Celebrate John Chase, West Hollywood's long-time urban designer who died way too early last year, with a walking tour of the places he helped make happen. KCRW's DnA, design boosters Design East of La Brea, and the LA Forum host John Chase's West Hollywood on Saturday, May 21, Chase's birthday. The day starts at the West Hollywood Gateway and ends up at Barney's Beanery, and in between architects and city leaders will talk about Chase, the projects he worked on, and urban design. Sign up here and get more info here. [deLaB]

DOWNTOWN/ECHO PARK/SILVER LAKE/LOS FELIZ/HOLLYWOOD: Meanwhile, the Big Parade will be walking LA's stairways all weekend long, from Downtown's Angel's Flight to Beachwood Canyon's Hollywood Sign. Day one ends at the Laurel & Hardy Music Box Stairs with a screening of "The Music Box." There's also a ten mile "prologue" from Mt. Washington to Lincoln Heights, if you're really looking to be pooped on Monday. All the info here. [Big Parade]
