A. Quincy Jones with Tennis Court in Beverly Hills

New, 17 comments

City of Angles is Curbed's attempt to catalog Southern California's impressive stock of pedigreed mid-century modern architecture, from Neutra to Ellwood and from the pristinely preserved to the offensively tampered with. Nominations to the tipline please!

Speaking of Julius Shulman, it might have behooved whoever shot the listing photos for this A. Quincy Jones in Beverly Hills to have studied a few samples of Shulman's work beforehand. We're fairly certain the five-bedroom mid-century is quite lovely in person, but in these pix, it's somewhat less than captivating. Located on a 1.2-acre lot a few blocks from the Beverly Hills Hotel, the home's features include three fireplaces, a temperature-controlled wine room, pool, spa, and tennis court. Last sold in 2003 for $5.1855 million, according to Redfin, it's now listed at $15.9 million.
