LA vs. Big Oil

And LA is mostly winning, according to Forbes in one of their infamous rankings. LA is usually at the bottom of their rankings of livability, happiness, etc., and we're still at the bottom of this list--but it's a good thing. Only NYC beats LA when it comes to metropolitan areas using the least amount of gasoline. The reason may be that amenities and jobs are not too far from most people in LA, writes Forbes. Another good guess is that many people are fed up with the price of gas and the undying traffic, leading them to other alternatives like transit, biking, walking, or simply less driving. [Forbes]
