UCLA Bruins Will Play at LA Sports Arena, Color it Blue and Gold

New, 1 comment

The UCLA men's basketball team will be bringing some much-needed life to the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena this fall, and splashing a little blue and gold on rival USC's turf for good measure. ESPN reports that the Bruins will play 14 of their 2011-2012 home games at the Exposition Park arena while Pauley Pavilion undergoes a reno. Four games will be played at the Honda Center in Anaheim, while the women's team will play at the Wooden Center on the UCLA campus. UCLA played at the 16,000 seat Sports Arena back in the sixties, but it's mostly thought of as a USC joint. To make it their own, the Bruins will paint the interior and the court in blue and gold, and hang their 11 championship banners. UCLA is also trying to arrange for a bus for season ticket holders. The Bruins will open their season at the Sports Arena on November 11, playing LMU, and will play the Trojans there on February 15, 2012. [Arena photo via Neon Tommy]
