In 1999, Los Angeles bought the land for Deervale-Stone Canyon Park in Sherman Oaks, but instead of buying land that would connect the park to a city road, it made a right-of-entry agreement with a nearby homeowner. But eventually everyone forgot about that. The LA Times started looking into where the entrance is supposed to be, and ended up tracking down former City Councilmember Mike Feuer (now in the state assembly), who happened to remember it's supposed to be at a cul-de-sac on Deervale Place.
