The Silver Lake meadow is undeniably exciting but Echo Park is also a recipient of some new leisure space, reports the echo park cool blog. The half-acre Rockwood Park, on a residential street near Beverly and Glendale Blvds., opened up recently after a 10-year effort. The wait has been rewarded with a kiddie playground with water fountain, benches, tables, and solar-powered lampposts. "Abandoned oil extraction wells were once housed on the park’s real estate," according to the blog, noting that the park was partly funded by a $400,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency.
