Back in 2008, there was a lot of hubbub about Venice's plans to replace a railroad easement with a parking lot, a move that would displace the artist studio belonging to Ed Ruscha. Three years later, Ruscha is finally moving out of the studio, so the New Yorker catches up to hear the artist's thoughts on the move to Culver City, the use of images of highway debris in his work, and the "treacherous off-ramps" of the Pasadena Freeway.
