WEST HOLLYWOOD: Like Madonna or any gay icon worth her adoration, the Abbey continues to reinvent itself. Eater checks out the ultimate gay bar's new look, which includes two new bars, DJ platform, sunken dancefloor, and additional restrooms for ladies.

WEST HOLLYWOOD: Just a few steps down the street from the Abbey is the popular American/Med restaurant Sur, which Eater says is expanding, and sushi restaurant Fat Fish, which is closing, the site reports. While Fat Fish was not outstanding, it was one of the rare sit-down restos amid the bars and discotheques. No report on what may be going in its place.

SANTA MONICA: Three cheers for Hungry Cat opening an outpost in Santa Monica! This is chef/owner David Lentz's third location after Santa Barbara and Hollywood and this one looks just as pretty--the venue opened Monday across from the beach on Channel Road and is open for dinner during the week, cocktails and raw bar starting at 3 pm on weekends, and hopefully brunch starting in June.

LOS ANGELES: You may be aware that this is Eater's burger week--contests, polls, and restaurant specials are on the menu. Today, Eater brought some delish burgers, including veggie options, to the brave firemen of station 61. Try not to smile at the sight of the LAFD digging into half-pounders with glee.
