The LA Athletic Club--a downtown hotel with dining and extensive fitness facilities--is in the midst of an exterior face lift that's about to wrap up, notes Brigham Yen's blog. The entire facade is getting a power wash, balconies and parapets (ornamentation that juts out from roofs) are being repainted, and the seen-better-days flags above the 7th Street entrance are getting swapped out; work finishes next month. The meeting rooms of the 99-year-old historic-cultural monument are getting remodeled next and the electrical equipment is getting an energy efficient upgrade.
